Laxius Power is a huge RPG created with RPG Maker.
The game has fairly simple graphics, sound effects, and music. Play is entirely turn-based and the only commands are keyboard controls (arrows, space, enter, and escape). It doesn't sound like any award winner, does it? Well read on my fellow gameplayer.
The strengths of Laxius Power lie in the superb gameplay and the depth of the story. The main character (named Random) meets several friends (Sarah, Luciana, Wendala, Caryool, Guanidia, and Herasia)on his long journey to become a hero. The player chooses up to 4 characters to be in the active party at any time. Just like any good RPG, the characters gain experience and new abilities as the game progresses. There are tons of dungeons, side quests, and secrets to keep one busy for an estimated 100+ hours. The story plays out in in game engine cut scenes with a few full screen pictures thrown in for good measure.
Be warned that the intro video is long and can't be skipped. Also, you must get a little ways into the game before the save game option becomes available allowing you to save and restore games without viewing the intro video.
